This exhibition was an exception. The showcase brought together art and tradition at Gallery 1957 in Accra on Friday, May 12.
The showcase, ‘In The World Not Of The World’, was presented by Ghanaian-American visual artist Rita Mawuena Benissan.
It explored royalty through among many others, umbrellas and their pivotal role in Ghana’s traditional rulership landscape.
Curated by Ekow Eshun, the attendees were draped in traditional clothing to complement the rich art displayed at the gallery.
Rita’s solo exhibition portrayed an intriguing array of chieftaincy guided by a procession.
It was led by Hemanhene, Nana Apau Wiafe Ababio and his traditional outfit.
