American actor, Sheryl Lee Ralph I currently in Ghana and she is already loving her stay.
The Emmy-winning “Abbott Elementary” star says she feels at him in the West African country as it embodies certain similarities to her country of heritage, Jamaica.
The decision to visit Ghana appears sudden as her fans have been asking about the rationale.
In an interview on Accra-based Joy FM, Sheryl explained that the trip is strictly for holidays.
Basically, she is in Ghana to unwind. “This trip was for rest and relaxation,” she said.
This come of the heels of accolades received on her latest television show.
At the 2023 NAACP Image Awards in February, she chose to wear a Ghana-made Kente gown.
The stunning dress caught the attention of critics who ranked it one of the best costumes on the night.
“I told them I know that the show [Abbott Elementary] is going to be nominated for an image award and I want to have something that reflects true, real and royal Africa. We went through picking the colours and all that,” the actress said.
On the show, she plays Barbara Howard, a senior teacher who upheld the principle of discipline and spiritual uprightness.
The mockumentary sitcom, Abbott Elementary was created by actress, Quinta Brunson.
